Same sport, new era. For its return to the big screen, 24 years after the first film starring Michael Jordan, the Space Jam universe is going 2.0 by plunging the "King" LeBron James into a virtual world where he must team up with Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes in a basketball match against the Goon Squad, to save his son kidnapped by Don Cheadle, king of the "World Server".
Somewhere between a basketball film, Ready Player One and Ralph 2.0, Space Jam - New Era draws on a host of pop references, from Game of Thrones and The Flintstones to The Iron Giant and Yogi Bear. As for the Toons, they are moving on from traditional 2D animation to computer-generated images. The show will kick off on 14 July 2021.
